What does the future hold for AI in the classroom?
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly becoming an important part of education. It is already an important part of the technology used by individuals all over the world, as it is being used by many companies, including Apple Computers, to help them provide better customer service to customers. Even major retailers like Best Buy are using AI to assist in their decision making.
The advancement of artificial intelligence into education is not only a good thing for consumers, but it is also good for students, professors, and teachers. If every school was able to completely utilize a platform such as Alexa, then many more people would be able to take advantage of this powerful platform for all sorts of information. This platform would allow everyone on the platform to learn at the same pace. Imagine if every student had access to the same knowledge base, but had a faster rate of learning. This would help everyone stay up-to-date with the new information available.
The future of education is now in high tech classrooms. Not only can students benefit from the advancements of artificially intelligent software, but they can benefit from their computers as well. The old method of reading a book and then taking notes is quickly being replaced by a new way to remember everything that you read. By using your computer, you can also access online databases and research previously unknown facts. All of these things can make for a more successful and interesting classroom.
China is leading the way in terms of technological development. They have developed many different programs for artificial intelligence and have even developed a car to drive around on artificial intelligence. At Carnegie Mellon University there is a student project developing an artificially intelligent teaching system that is able to teach thousands of class students at an average of one lesson a day. Imagine if this same technology was used in education and businesses at a much larger scale.
AI in education has the potential to completely change the way we do things in the classroom. With the right tools and applications, AI can be used for many things, including grading, lesson planning, homework assignments, emailing assignments, managing class discussions, marking tests, and even providing personalized advice. One of the biggest questions about this new technology is whether or not it will replace teachers entirely. Currently, many people are finding that they still want to be involved in the classroom because they still have a personal hand in helping students learn. Though AI will almost certainly be able to perform many of the same jobs that a teacher does, it may not be necessary to have an actual human being in the classroom for every student.
Although AI may have the potential of replacing teachers and ‘taking over’ the education sector, there is still a long way to go before the learners’ culture is even ready to accept such a big shift. Plus, there are moral issues as well as some human qualities, which AI cannot yet replace.
